ELODIA
Concept work - Brand Identity
“Elodia” is a concept project, where the client is a Spanish-inspired café located in Santa Barbara, CA. In this project, the client wanted a brand identity refresh that better told the story of Elodia through creative design.
The client wanted a brand that was warm, artisanal, handcrafted and contemporary to truly embody their vision.
Elodia Café and Bakery was an idea inspired by my recent obsession with modern coffee shops and the branding that draws people to them.
In this organic design, there are many interpretations of what it actually means (and those are the best kind of illustrations in my opinion). Let’s start with the most obvious—the motifs look like chairs, or even tables that symbolize gathering. The next interpretation: arms, hugs, humans being humans and being close in a warm space. And finally, the motif symbolizes bakery goods like bread rolls or even coffee cups.
I designed motifs that symbolize socializing and community connection through both organic and minimalistic illustration.
Elodia is more than just a café—it is a space for connection and gathering. Illustrating a chair that fit the European and artisanal atmosphere of Elodia was key to tying everything together. Spanish cafés are known to be warm and inviting but each unique in creating a welcoming invitation to stay and chat while sipping on a cup of coffee. Creating contrasting motifs of chairs also added to the contemporary design of Elodia.
