Concept work - Brand Identity
After scrolling through TikTok for some inspiration, I was lucky enough to find a prompt created by Alex Pillow. The task? Mock up a tall boy can for a premade Vodka and Red Bull cocktail βin a can.β And funny enough, this might be my favorite concept work I have ever done.
Branding can feel friendly and playful, especially if the product is meant to provide fun feelings and experiences.
I have been so inspired by cartoon characters in branding. They are a creative and playful way to add a story to brands that really speaks to people because they are attention-grabbing.
To portray a motif for the flavor, I decided to create two characters for the brand Mr. Kan. Because the name of the brand involves the name of someone, or something, I wanted to add characters into the brand to enhance that element. I created a cherry and blueberry character to act as playful characters in the story of Mr. Kan. Similar to the character of Pringles, the cherry and blueberry characters act as a friendly mascot that consumers might connect with when looking for a drink to try or reach for repeatedly.
This concept work really allowed me to play around with making a brand feel friendly and approachable, especially if the product is meant to provide a fun feeling and experience. I knew that the branding and logo really needed to symbolize those elements.
